Option 2: Weekly Envelopes
For those who prefer to physically write checks or fill envelopes with cash, Saint Agnes continues to offer the option of receiving weekly envelopes. If you are new to the Parish, we invite you to register by contacting the Parish Office at 610-692-2990. Once registered, you will begin receiving envelopes in the mail. This is a great way for those who use cash or checks to continue to make a financial offering towards the mission of the Church and the Gospel of Jesus.
How Your Donations Transform Lives at Saint Agnes!
Founded in 1793, Saint Agnes Parish is the oldest Catholic Church in the Chester County. With nearly 11,000 parishioners, Saint Agnes Parish is one of the largest parishes in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia (nearly four times the size of a typical parish in the United States). Your generous donation helps support the mission of bringing Jesus Christ to so many people who need to encounter the transforming love of the Gospel.
Here are some of the things that Saint Agnes is able to provide through your generous support and donations:
Saint Agnes Worship
Centered in our beautiful neo-Gothic Church, which was built in 1922, the liturgical, spiritual, and devotional life of our parish community is rich, expansive, and fruitful. In addition to the celebration of two daily Masses and six Masses on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation, our Parish Community devoutly celebrates hundreds of special ceremonies each year (including about 135 Baptisms, 160 First Holy Communicants, 125 Confirmations, 50 Marriages, and 80 Funerals). Our magnificent Church and warm Blessed Virgin Mary BVM Chapel are the graced settings for over 1,300 liturgical celebrations each year at Saint Agnes Parish.
Saint Agnes Pastoral Care
While a typical parish would minister one or two institutions within its parish boundaries, Saint Agnes Parish has a large Pastoral Care ministry serving eight local institutions: the County Hospital, the Country Prison, four local Nursing Homes, and two Hospices. Care for the sick, the elderly, the imprisoned, and the dying is an important parochial ministry.
Saint Agnes School
Our parish sponsors Saint Agnes School, which was founded over 145 years ago under the direction of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM sisters), has been twice awarded the US Department of Education Blue Ribbon for Excellence. Our parish school has a current enrollment of 340 children (from Pre-School-3 to Grade 8) and some 50 employees (administrators, faculty, and staff). Thanks to substantial investments in technology, most of students are involved in one-to-one learning with Chromebooks and I Pads. Our recent graduating class from 8th grade received over $700,000 in scholarships offers from area high schools. Saint Agnes School strives to meet the developmental needs of our students including their spiritual, intellectual, artistic, athletic, physical, emotional, and social wellbeing. While only 30% of parishes in the U.S. are able to sponsor parish schools, we are delighted to be home to our wonderful parish school community.
Saint Agnes Parish Religious Education Program (PREP)
Our Parish also sponsors a large PREP Program which serves over 600 children (Grades 1-7) and is served by our DRE and two other educators in administration along with nearly 80 volunteer catechists and aides. In addition, we sponsor a Youth Program geared towards students from Grades 7-12. In total, we are delighted to welcome over 1,000 children who come each week to our 3.5 acre historic, beautiful, and safe campus for religious instruction and faith formation.
Saint Agnes Social Services
Our parish sponsors significant Social Services Programs. Through our Day Room programs, over 12,000 free breakfasts and 18,000 free lunches are offered each year to the poor through the generosity of many volunteer cooks and servers. Sixty children are offered a head start in educational support services. And through our Nurses Clinic, we are able to provide basic health services to nearly 800 uninsured or under-insured people in need. Staffed by 14 employees and over 100 volunteers, our Social Services programs are making a difference every day in the lives of others.
Saint Agnes Spanish Apostolate
While only 25% of U.S. parishes sponsor Spanish-language programs, we are delighted to maintain a Spanish Apostolate which serves the 14% of our parishioners who speak Spanish. Weekly Mass and all the sacraments are offered in Spanish with supporting prayer and faith formation programs offered as well in Spanish.
Saint Agnes Cemetery
While only 10% of parishes in the U.S. have cemeteries, we are honored to be able to support our Parish Cemetery, which was founded by Saint John Neumann, and which provides opportunities for corporal works of mercy at our peaceful 18-acre Parish cemetery. Over 150 families are served annually.
Saint Agnes CYO
Our Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) sponsors 14 different teams over all seasons which serves over 300 children. Many of our sporting events take place at our beautiful 12-acre sports fields or in our modern gymnasium.
Saint Agnes Parish Ministries
The Parish sponsors over 65 ministries, clubs, and organizations including liturgical ministries (viz., choirs, cantors, lectors, eucharistic ministers, altar servers, et al), several Bible Study groups, the Knights of Columbus, the King’s Men, the Legion of Mary, various scouting groups, and many other wonderful groups who enrich the parish.
Saint Agnes Parish is a special place where many good things are possible – like believing, praying, learning, growing, hoping, loving, and serving! Thank you for supporting our mission to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to the world!
