Priesthood is an office that has existed since the time of the Old Testament. Instead of offering the blood of animals, Christ Himself became both the victim and the priest offering the sacrifice on the Cross. All people who are baptized are baptized into the priesthood of Christ. Among the baptized, God calls some men to participate in His priesthood in a particular way through the sacramental priesthood, to administer the sacraments and serve the people of the Church, Christ's bride, in a particular way.
