Within Catholicism, there are a variety of spiritualities that guide how we pray, the values we cultivate, and the spiritual goals we hope to achieve and which will evoke an authentic response to Jesus Christ.
This “Spirituality Series” is designed to explain a few of the spiritualities of saints and people’s who have practiced a specific way of engaging with and experiencing an authentic relationship with Christ.

Franciscan Spirituality is focused on the unconditional and extravagent love of God. After his conversion, St. Francis had this intense realization that God was Father to all and therefore all that was created by God was brother and sister to him. Scholars tell us that Francis and Clare had a world view that focused clearly on the primacy of Christ, the dignity of the human person, creation and the humility of God. The heart of the Christian vocation, whether religious or lay, is to become like Christ and to love as God loves, extravagantly and without condition. Carmelite Spirituality guides us along this well-worn path by encouraging us to ponder the mystery of divine-human friendship with a focus on scripture and special emphasos on the person of Christ. At its core, Carmelite Spirituality is a love story, a story of human desire, a desire not to be conquered or c ontrolled but rather to be transformed into the Will of God. This presentation will offer some basic tools necessary for traveling this ancient but ever new Carmelite Way.

St. Ignatius of Loyola was born in the Basque country of Spain in 1491. His desire to live the life of a nobleman and dashing soldier was cut short by a new fatal injury in battle, which led him to gradually forsake his former life and to "find God in all things." This presentation will examine how life circumstances led to the formation of Ignatian Spirituality, the characteristics of Ignatian Spirituality, and opportunities to experience different types of Ignatian prayer
