In the past several months, our lives have been flipped entirely upside down. From a pandemic and getting used to social distancing to economic changes and now as we are confronted with the reality of racism and its destructive consequences, 2020 has been a difficult year for many of us.
And yet, God is with us. God is with us in the pain because He experienced the reality of pain, rejection, and persecution even to the point of death. He is with us in the uncertainty because He is working all things for our good, so that we will be with Him forever in heaven. He is with us in the fight for justice because He is the one who said, "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled."
It is no coincidence that this coming Sunday, June 14th, is the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of our Lord, also known as Corpus Christi Sunday. This is the day when we celebrate the reality that God truly is with us, not only in a spiritual way but in a physical way in the Blessed Sacrament, the Eucharist.
At St. Agnes, we will celebrate this Feast of Corpus Christi with a Eucharistic Procession on Sunday June 14th at 3:30pm. We will begin in the church and then process with the Blessed Sacrament out of the church and toward the parking lot.
If you are not yet comfortable joining us for Mass, you are especially invited to participate in this procession. You can participate by staying in your car in the parking lot or by standing beside it and adoring our Lord as the procession passes by.
This Eucharistic Procession is an opportunity to witness in our community to the reality that God is with us and that we are united in Him. As we walk, we will pray and bring all of our needs before Jesus in the Eucharist. This is one of the most powerful witnesses we can give in our world today, which is hurting so deeply.
Whether you begin with us in the church or you participate from your car, we pray that you will join us as we bring Jesus to our community in its time of need.
