St. Agnes Day Room

Serving those most in need in our community since 1992

St. Agnes Day Room was founded to serve the basic needs of the poor and the homeless in the West Chester area.  The Day Room continues to provide hospitality to the needy in a caring and welcoming environment.

Goals

  • To strengthen families and assist individuals toward personal growth and greater independence
  • To establish ongoing, therapeutic relationships that strengthen the community.
  • To nurture in our clients a sense of appreciation and a desire to help others.

Annualized Day Room Statistics

  • 11,000 Breakfasts served - The poor and homeless receive a light breakfast and are able to begin their days in a caring and welcoming environment.
  • 18,000 Hot lunches served - Nourishing hot lunches provide sustenance and comfort to the most vulnerable in our community.
  • 3,000 Bags of groceries distributed to families in need - Our food pantry provides groceries to many hard working families and the elderly who cannot make ends meet.
  • 5,000 Persons receiving clothing - New and gently used clothing are provded to those in need - especially to the babies and children of the poor.
  • 3,335 Packages of diapers and formula distributed - Families with new babies visit regularly to pick up diapers and receive support and guidance.
  • 5,000 Nursing visits - We provide care to the uninsured poor.

Strategic Collaborations to Serve the Poor

St. Agnes collaborates with a number of local agencies to answer varied needs.  For example, we work with other agencies to provide:

  • On-site substance abuse support
  • Employment counseling and training
  • Homeless case management
  • Assistance for new immigrant families with children

We help clients access the services that they need.
